Community Service
Since 1962, Ann Arbor Alumnae chapter has continuously served Washtenaw County Area communities with a variety of programs and initiatives. Just a few of our recent activities include:
School Supply Drives
Each year, Ann Arbor Alumnae has sponsored and/or supported school supply drives for students in Washtenaw county. Some of the organizations we partner with for distribution to children and families include SOS Community Services, The Salvation Army and the Ann Arbor National Pan-Hellenic Council.
Delonis Center Donations and Meal Service
Several times throughout the year, AAAC sorors can be found volunteering at the Delonis Center - whether it's bringing in the New Year by serving meals at the Community Kitchen or delivering donations of toiletries, new accessories and other supplies for the men and women served by the Shelter Association of Washtenaw County.
Little Dresses for Africa and Haiti
A simple pillowcase can make a tremendous impact for the Little Dresses For Africa and Haiti effort. As stated by the partner organization, "Simple dresses are made out of pillow cases and distributed through the orphanages, churches and schools in Africa to plant in the hearts of little girls that they are WORTHY!"
Warm Fuzzies
Sorors look forward to our annual "Warm Fuzzies" project, where we gather to make fleece blankets that provide warmth and comfort to patients of the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Fundraising Walks
Ann Arbor Sorors are constantly on the move, participating in a number of fundraising efforts for worthy causes such as:
-
National Kidney Foundation
-
March for Dimes
-
Go Red for Women
-
St. Jude Children's Hospital, and more!
Baby Showers for the Corner Health Center
For the third year in a row, our chapter has had the honor of providing support to clients of the Corner Health Center's Maternal Infant Health Program with a baby shower.
